Moon.com terms explained simply

Before you place a bet on Moon.com, it helps to know exactly what the screen is telling you. Here are the platform's own key terms — wager, leverage, the 1% open fee, flip, liquidation and Moon Sentiment — in plain English, with worked examples.

The terms that matter

Available balance

The funds you can still use to open new positions. Money already committed to an open bet is excluded until that bet is closed or reduced.

Total balance $100 · $50 tied up in an open bet · available balance $50.

Wager

The amount you choose to risk on a single trade. This is your maximum possible loss if the trade runs all the way to its liquidation price.

A $20 wager means $20 is the most that trade can cost you.

Leverage

Leverage lets your wager control a bigger position than the cash you committed. It multiplies gains and losses equally, and higher leverage means a smaller price move is enough to liquidate you.

$100 wager at 10x = $1,000 market exposure. A 1% move in the asset moves your position roughly 10% — up or down.

Open fee (1%)

Moon charges a 1% opening fee when a new bet is opened. Importantly, it is charged on your wager amount only — not on your leveraged exposure — and it is shown in the wager summary before you confirm.

$1,000 wager at 10x ($10,000 exposure) → open fee is 1% of $1,000 = $10.

Flip

Flip instantly reverses your position: it closes your current bet and opens a new one in the opposite direction at the current market price. Each flip is a new bet, so the 1% open fee applies again.

Flipping three times in a session means paying the open fee three times.

Liquidation price

The price level at which your position can no longer absorb losses and is closed automatically. The more leverage you use, the closer this level sits to your entry price.

Always check the liquidation price shown before confirming — it tells you how much room the trade actually has.

Liquidation amount

The amount lost when a position is liquidated. Because your wager is your maximum loss, liquidation means that wager is gone — not more.

A $20 wager liquidated is a $20 loss, regardless of leverage used.

Moon Sentiment

A live read on how other users are positioned on an asset, based on the number of currently open Up bets versus Down bets. It is a crowd indicator, not a prediction.

20 open Up bets vs 10 open Down bets → sentiment shows Up.

What this means for your trading

  1. 01

Your wager is your ceiling on loss — size it as a small share of your balance, not as a share of what you hope to win.

  2. 02

Leverage does not increase your maximum loss, it shortens the distance to it. Higher leverage, tighter liquidation price.

  3. 03

The 1% open fee is charged on the wager, not the leveraged exposure, so leverage does not inflate your fee.

  4. 04

Every flip is a fresh bet and a fresh fee. Frequent flipping is one of the quietest ways beginners lose money.

  5. 05

Available balance, not total balance, is what you can actually deploy — keep a buffer so you are not forced out of good setups.

  6. 06

Moon Sentiment tells you where the crowd sits. The crowd is often right in trends and often wrong at turns.

Common questions

Does leverage increase the fee I pay on Moon.com?

No. The 1% opening fee is calculated on your wager amount alone. A $1,000 wager at 10x still pays $10, not $100.

Can I lose more than my wager?

Your wager is described as the maximum possible loss on that trade — if the position reaches its liquidation price, the wager is lost. Always confirm the figures shown on the wager summary before you commit.

What does flipping a bet cost?

A flip closes your bet and opens the opposite one at the current market price, and the 1% open fee applies each time you do it.

Should I follow Moon Sentiment?

Treat it as one input. It shows how many open bets sit Up versus Down right now — useful context, but it is not a forecast and it can flip quickly.
